Transplant Felllowship Application & Requirements

All applicants must have completed a general surgery residency program by the time his/her fellowship begins. At this time, we accepting applications only for the June 2009 match, which will fill positions for fellows matriculating July 2010. All application materials should be submitted directly to the UCSF Abdominal Transplant Fellowship Program. Fellows will be selected through the Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship Match operated by the National Resident Matching Program.

The following documents must be submitted  the application:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Personal Statement (2 page maximum).
    The Personal Statement and CV may be sent via U.S. mail to the address below or emailed to: FengAA@ucsfmedctr.org
  3. A minimum of two and maximum of four Letters of Recommendation. The original letters of recommendation must be sent directly via U.S. mail to:

Additional Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates

  1. Must have graduated from an ACGME or Canadian medical school
  2. Must have successfully completed Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the USMLE
  3. Must have completed (or anticipate completion) of ACGME US or Canada General Surgery Residency Training Program

Foreign medical graduates must explicitly document compoliance with above three (3) requirements either on the CV or cover letter. The processes to obtain the necessary certification are available from the Medical Board of California.   Obtaining the required visa is a lengthy, unpredictable, and expensive process. If you are invited for an interview, our administrative staff will provide more specific information regarding these procedures and assist you with the visa and licensing issues.
